About

Birgit Duval

Birgit Duval qualified as a Goldsmith in 2001 in Germany. She then finished the Master school for Gold-and Silversmithing in Munich in 2004. Afterwards she went to Namibia where she worked as the workshop manager for a very popular jeweller in Windhoek. Being a Master Goldsmith entitles her to teach apprentices as well as designing and manufacturing unique and high end jewellery.

After 8 years Birgit moved to Cape Town, South Africa and started her own business in 2014.

When she arrived in Cape Town she begun to develop her own style. She started to combine her knowledge of traditional craftsmanship with Japanese techniques mostly unknown in our part of the world. Unconventional combinations between Keum-boo, Sand cast, Japanese alloys and Patinas are the basis of her bold and unique creations. She has recently moved to Kenton on Sea and also does custom fine jewellery.
